- My guided visit to this historic rum distillery in Arucas lasted for 45 minutes and was spread over five stages:
- Origin of Arehucas.
- Visit to the rum ageing cellar.
- Discovering the rum production process and visit to the mill, and fermentation and distillation rooms.
- Bottling plant.
- And the BEST PART. The Tasting of there wide range of rums and liqueurs. Just help yourself.

The Arehucas Distillery is over a hundred years old and has a rich history. The distillery, located in Arucas (Gran Canaria), is a testament to this fact, welcoming more than 95,000 visitors every year. Arehucas is an established and prestigious trademark, thanks to the quality and history of its spirits. It has successfully become a benchmark brand in the Canary Islands. Today DestilerĂas Arehucas is endeavouring to increase its presence beyond the Canary Islands, mainly in the rest of Spain and also internationally, by exporting to more than ten countries

This is where samples of from various stage of production are tested.
The best part of the trip where you can sample the various rum drinks that are produced. The room also has a shop where you can buy a bottles that you like at reduced prices, compared to shops & duty free. Remember if you are from the UK you are restricted to what you can bring back

- The spirit allowance when entering the UK from the Canary Islands is 1 litre of spirits over 22% alcohol, or 2 litres of fortified wine, sparkling wine, or other alcoholic beverages up to 22% alcohol. This means you can bring either 1 litre of spirits like gin, vodka, or rum, or 2 litres of fortified wine, sparkling wine, or other drinks under 22% alcohol. You can also combine the allowances, for example, half a litre of spirits and 1 litre of fortified wine.
