Yumbo Shopping Centre

The huge, the largest in Playa del Inles, Yumbo shopping centre is built in a giant hole in the ground.  The shops, bars, restaurants, nightclubs and businesses are basically built around the sides of the hole. The open to the sky centre includes grass areas, a children's playground, and wide paved areas where small stalls are set up in the evening.

The Yumbo has 4 floors or Levels (Planta)

• Level 1 being the lowest floor.  This level often refered to as the ground floor is in fact 2 floor down from the street level. This floor is crammed with bars, show or cabaret bars, restaurants and late clubs. Most of the bars and all the late clubs are gay. The cabaret bars are gay owned butmainly attract a non gay audience.  In an evening market stalls are set up, and the goods tend to be of an artistic nature. There are plenty of artists to do a portrait for you.
• Level 2 is one floor up from the bottom. Both level 2 and 3 have bars, restaurants and shops including supermarkets on level 3,
• Level 3 Street level.
• Level 4 is only found in the north east corner of the shopping complex and all establishments are gay.

  You will find Floor maps on the 4 levels. These have the heading Planta Floor Etage

Up to around 10 pm the Yumbo is very hetro. orientated with families and straights doing there shopping, having a drink or meal. Then slowly they start to disappear and the gays appear in more numbers. Very popular with both hetro and straight groups are the show or cabaret bars.  Most of these are brit owned

• On the south west corner with the Shopping centre main entrance on Avenida de los Estados Unidos
• On the east side  by the main shopping centre entrance on Avenida de Espana

The Tourist information centre is located in the Yumbo centre at the corner of Avenida de los Estados Unidos and Avenida de Espana
